Fairy Bower Tide and Rock Pool Lab

Fairy Bower Rock Pool is a brilliant demonstration of boundary science. The pool is built right beside the open ocean, so children can stand in one place and compare two water systems at once. Inside the pool the water is relatively calm, predictable and shallow. Outside the wall, the sea is pushed by swell, tides and wind into something far more chaotic.

This lets families talk about how engineers and designers work with nature instead of trying to erase it. The pool does not stop the ocean from being energetic. It simply creates a safer pocket within that bigger system. If the tide is rising or waves are wrapping around the rocks, kids can literally watch a boundary doing its job.
